The Perfect New Planner (that won’t break the bank!)

I’m the type of person who has way to many tabs open on my web browser and in my head. Often times I find that I make simple mistakes whenever I am not consciously trying to keep everything organized. It is easy to forget a date, time, or place, (cough cough showing up to the wrong restaurant for lunch 15 minutes late) and then not be able to make up for lost time. The same goes for school work or managing my business – if I don’t write the details of an assignment or project down it will possibly get fudged up without easy ways to repair the damages.

All of this being said – I take choosing a planner quite seriously. I NEED a tool to stay organized and I work best with pen and paper (I’ve tried the iPhone calendar and it just doesn’t seem to work for me).

I have had the cheap school planners that schools will give to students for free; and I have also tried designer planners from Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer. I have found that it is not the brand that matters, but the durability and how the planner fits with your lifestyle. For me, I am always on the go and moving. I need a planner that will hold up for an entire year and also one that won’t look too dirty (I avoid white like the plague). I also don’t like paying an arm and a leg for a glorified notebook.

Here are my criteria for choosing a planner:

  • Hard cover (durable – not simply cardboard or laminate)
  • Avoid spirals (I bend the spirals out of place every time)
  • No light colours
  • Under 35 dollars

After scanning the isles at bookstores, Target, and Staples, I finally made my choice. My most recent planner is from Their selection can be found at Indigo bookstores and other shops in the US.

This is the chosen planner for 2017-2018. I love the lively print and the sleek, hard cover. I can already tell that this planner can take a beating. The inside is also very organized – with whole month overviews and then individual slots for planning each day.

What really sold me on trying this planner is that it comes with stickers. I don’t go overboard with planning and I never plan on buying planner specific stickers, but it made me a little giddy to see a cute variety of sassy stickers that are included with this one. Screen Shot 2017-08-17 at 12.18.16 PM

There are such a good selection of these planners from to choose from on Indigo’s site. Since I already have my inset preferences (no spirals, hard cover, no light colors), it was pretty easy to choose the perfect planner for me. Here’s to being organized!
